Project Cornerstone makes a year-long impact at Silver Oak!
Silver Oak participates each year in the Project Cornerstone Asset Building Champions (ABC) Program. This program rotates through a three year progression...
- Asset Year
- Building Year
- Champion Year
2017-2018 was a Champion Year for Silver Oak.
Silver Oak students learned skills this school year that build Empathy that foster positive relationships, opportunities, and values! These skills, like respect, kindness, confidence, personal power, are known collectively as "developmental assets"—they provide the foundation for a healthy, successful future. Studies have shown that in general, the more developmental assets that young people possess, the more likely they are to avoid risky behaviors, and engage in positive, healthy activities. The program is facilitated by parents and teachers in grades 1-4. The books shown above were read and discussed in class this year. Next year a new set of books will be featured.
Silver Oak PTO would like to thank all of our parent reader volunteers, especially Vidya Badami who leads this program. Please contact her if you would like more information at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Project Cornerstone will resume in the fall and will be looking for classroom readers!
