Attention All Grade 3-8 Parents! Student CAASPP Score Reports will now be accessed electronically through the Parent Portal on our student information system. For complete details, please visit https://bit.ly/2XAimKH. ● To access reports, sign in at powerschool.eesd.org/public . If parents have not yet created an account, a unique access ID and password will be sent with the child's report card. ● Student Score Reports are being made accessible to families as soon as student exams have been scored by the State. This means that some students may already have access to their 2019 test results in their Parent Portal while others may not. Tests are scored and released in batches and the process will be finalized over several weeks. The State does not notify us of each release. ● Parents should contact the Karen Wevers in the Instruction Department (firstname.lastname@example.org or 408-270-6827) if they are unable to access their child's report by the end of July, have any additional questions or need technology assistance.

Please follow all neighborhood driving and pedestrian laws. Make sure you walk with your child when crossing the street at the crosswalk. Teach your child good safety habits. For those parents wishing to drop-off and pick-up their child by car, we ask assistance in maintaining a safe parking lot. The traffic through the parking lot will be limited to the following: On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, from 1:50-2:00pm, the parking lot is for Kindergarten pick-up traffic only. After 2:00pm, the parking lot is open to Grades 1-6 pick-up traffic. On Thursdays, from 12:20-12:30pm, the parking lot is for Kindergarten pick-up traffic only. After 12:30pm, the parking lot is open to Grades 1-6 pick-up traffic. Please be advised that parking and waiting at the curb will be prohibited as it impedes the flow of traffic. Please click on the link above to find out how you can help us keep a safe parking lot. Thank you for your cooperation.

To promote school safety, Matsumoto had added Pedestrian Walking Flags and Holders. The flags are used at school intersections to help keep children safe as they walk to school. When a student holds a Pedestrian Crosswalk Flag as they use a crosswalk, they are making surrounding cars aware of their presence and giving them the confidence to safely walk to school. Please discuss the proper use of the pedestrian walking flags and holders with your children. Thank you!

Every Wednesday is Walk n' Roll to School Day for students. Tom Matsumoto families are encouraged to walk to school each Wednesday to promote daily physical activity, reduce traffic congestion around Tom Matsumoto, and learn critical skills that enhances pedestrian safety. A "Mustang Pass" has been given to each student. Every Wednesday that students walk to school, they will earn a special hole punch on their Mustang Pass given by a parent volunteer or staff member wearing a bright colored vest beginning at 7:45 am at the following three points: 1) Cortona Drive and Littleworth Way (Moved to Cortona Drive and Cortona Court), 2) Mackin Woods Lane and Falerno Way, or 3) Cortona Drive and Altia Avenue. Students can earn special prizes for every 5 hole punches they receive in the OFFICE during first recess. (Students must get their "Mustang Pass" punched at these drop-off/walking points to earn prizes.) If you would like to volunteer for Walk n' Roll Wednesdays, please contact Dr. Nguyen at email@example.com.

May's ABC Book: In "Recess Queen", by Alexis O'Neill, Mean Jean, the "recess queen", rules the playground with an iron fist. No one dares cross her path for fear of being hit, punched, or kicked. One day, a new girl shows up on the playground and catches Mean Jean completely off guard. Katie Sue is not the least bit intimidated by Mean Jean. Katie Sue actually invites Jean to join in a jump rope game! In no time, Jean and Katie Sue become friends. As a caring adult, here are steps you can use to help youth in emotionally charged conflicts: 1) Empower students to use their skills as UPstanders to create a safe and caring climate on the school playground. 2) Practice using conflict resolution skills. 3) Use the ABC student toolbox of techniques practiced all year in our ABC Lessons. 4) Demonstrate a connection between student's online and face to face community.
