Dear LeyVa & Bulldog Tech Students and Families,
Welcome to the 2017-18 school year! The teachers and staff here at LeyVa are excited and ready for the year to begin.
We are all extremely proud of our school. According to data from our Youth Truth surveys given each year to parents, students, and staff, we are seeing incredible three-year gains in student engagement as well as in positive climate and culture. Everyone at LeyVa is dedicated to making our school safe, academically-challenging, and student-centered.
To ensure that our students are prepared for high school and beyond, we work hard at providing a program that will connect them to the world around them. Our students are involved in our committees, instrumental in improving our climate and culture, and making so many positive contributions to our community.
This year we have added a Computer Science course for our 8th graders that will focus on strengthening their skills in information technology, multimedia, and communication. Our local high schools have career pathways that include engineering, information technology, multimedia arts, and business careers. These pathways are designed to give kids the tools and specific skills they need for college and the workforce. We want to make sure we are in sync with them so our kids make a smooth transition to the high school they will attend.
Please join me in welcoming new assistant principals Marena Doxie and Miles Garner to our team. They are wonderful people who bring so much positivity to our campus.
We continue on with PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) here at LeyVa. This program runs both behind the scenes and out in front. We work together to create an environment of trust and support. We expect and nurture positive, tolerant behavior, and we see diversity in all its incredible, fascinating forms as our greatest asset. Our ASB officers this year President Moiza Naiyar, Vice President Apollo Eugene, Secretary Quan Nguyen, Treasurer Zachary Ho, Spirit Commissioners Andrew Tran and Mia Troung, and Student Delegate Weilin “Cherry" Zhang will be instrumental in our efforts to make LeyVa even better.
We all look forward to working with our students and their families. Please keep abreast of school news and happenings by being faithful readers of our school newsletter and School Loop. If you have not already done so, if you are a parent or guardian, please register for the Parent Portal. For assistance with any of these methods of communication, contact our school office at 408-270-4992.
